Happy Tuesday!! I’ve been obsessed with trying to find quick recipes for after work where I don’t have to do much prep for! This recipe came from that mindset and from trying to think of recipes where I use ingredients that most people would have in their pantry with of course a few exceptions, one being the orange juice. You’ll notice within the next recipes I post I use a lot of the same spices and liquids. I think most Asian dishes consist of a lot of the same ingredients which is perfect for quick dinners! Another great thing about Asian dishes is that the amounts of ingredients are so versatile, you can really add what ever you would like or adjust the amount to fit your palette! Check out the recipe below and I hope you enjoy it!
——— Ingredients———
Sauce
-1/3 cup orange juice
-3 tablespoons soy sauce
-3 tablespoon maple syrup
-1 tablespoon sriracha
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1/4 teaspoon pepper
-1 clove garlic minced
-1/4 teaspoon ginger
Toppings (optional but add a nice flavor)
-1 tablespoon chopped scallions/ green onion
-1 tablespoon grated orange zest
Meal
-1 serving (1 cup) better than rice rice
-1 Quorn “chicken” fillets
(Your protein and starch can be whatever you are craving! This is what I had with my sauce)
-1/2 cup broccoli steamed
—-Instructions—-
First, we are going to make the orange sauce.
In a medium bowl, add the orange juice, maple syrup, sriracha, salt, pepper, garlic, and ginger. Whisk together until combined. I always taste sauces after I make them to see if I need anymore of the ingredients in it. For this recipe I would taste and see if you want more sriracha. I love spice so I always add extra but it is completely up to you!
Set sauce aside.
Next, we are going to steam our broccoli. I steam the broccoli just until it’s tender because once we add it into the pan it will cook more and get a nice browning which I personally love. If you do not like your broccoli browned then you don’t have to. That’s the beauty of this recipe it’s so versatile!!
While the broccoli is cooking you can now prepare your protein how ever you want. If using chicken I would cube the chicken and add it to a small pan with some garlic and olive oil. Then cook until done.
Once your protein is done cooking, add your broccoli to the pan and let it cook a little bit longer. About 3-5 minutes. Next add the sauce to the pan and cook on medium heat. The longer you cook it the more the sauce will cook down, if you want a more of a liquid cook until everything is coated then serve. If you like it thicker cook for about 3-5 minutes stirring occasionally to make sure everything is coated evenly.
Once everything is coated to your preference then serve! I served mine with this better than rice rice which I loved but you can easily serve it with white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice!
This recipe is super easy and a quick dinner. Total this dinner took me 20 minute and most of that was just making the rice!
